There is always something going on in this beautiful part of the world, with the major events including the annual agricultural show Kilnsey Show, held on the Tuesday after September Bank Holiday, which is organised and run by the Upper Wharfedale Agricultural Society. The Society, founded in 1897, has developed the show, which takes place in the shadow of the famous Kilnsey Crag, into one of the country's largest and most successful one-day agricultural shows.
The show, which includes an 8-minute fell race to the top of Kilnsey Crag and return, has generally replaced the old 'Kilnsey Feast' and the two autumn sheep sales which existed earlier in the 19th century.
For those interested in classical and light music, comedy and more thought provoking evenings there is also the annual Grassington Festival, held for a fortnight in late June each year. This festival has now become internationally recognised for the caliber of the artistes which it attracts.
The Grassington Dickensian Festival, held on three consecutive Saturdays in late November/early December in the run up to Christmas, provides a unique experience with street entertainment, side shows and a multitude of stalls which draws thousands of visitors from all over the country year after year.
Look out here for up to date news of the monthly Grassington Farmers' Market, Women's Institute meetings, The Upper Wharfedale Field Society (UWFS) meetings, The Upper Wharfedale Heritage Group (UWHG) meetings, church services as well as walking, climbing and other outdoor activities in and around Kilnsey and Conistone in Upper Wharfedale.

Conistone with Kilnsey War Memorial
A War Memorial has been erected in Conistone with Kilnsey.
In 2010 there was a discussion at the Conistone with Kilnsey Parish meeting about the absence of a War Memorial in Conistone with Kilnsey. It was agreed that a memorial should be erected at a suitable location.
The War Memorial plaque is now in place on the west wall of St.Mary's Church, Conistone with Kilnsey. Most of the expense has been met by the Co-operative Memorials of Nab Wood Shipley along with donations from local people.
Information about the memorial, together with the details of the six casualties and a map showing the places where they lived, can be viewed in the History and Nature section of this website.
If anybody has any further information about the casualties named on the memorial, (e.g. photographs or family details), please forward them to us through this website.
